BASAS Prize 2008
Each year, the British Association of South Asian Studies (BASAS) awards a prize for the most outstanding paper given by a student at its annual conference. Both the paper and its presentation from part of the judging criteria. The paper may be on any subject relevant to the conference. NOTE:
- The student (a) must be studying for a degree in an institution of higher learning at the time of the BASAS Annual Conference, but (b) need not be a member of BASAS.
- The paper must be (c) accepted in advance by a panel convenor, (d) submitted in advance to BOTH the panel convenor AND conference organiser(s), (e) presented in person by the student at the BASAS annual conference, and (e) not have been presented elsewhere or published previously.
- For this year, an electronic copy of the full paper must be submitted to BOTH the panel convenor(s) AND conference organiser Clare Anderson at clare.anderson@warwick.ac.uk by 14 March 2008.

NB: The winner of this year's BASAS Prize for the best paper and presentation by a student at the BASAS 22nd Annual Conference is Nico Slate of Harvard University, USA, for "I am a coloured woman": Kamaladevi Chattopadhyaya in the United States, 1939-41.

To register for the conference, please download, complete and submit the booking form now available as a WORD or PDF file. Please note:
- The "early bird" registration deadline is Friday, 15 February 2008 has now closed.
- The booking form includes information on how to apply for one of the 20 bursaries for registered postgraduates and participants from South Asia presenting papers at the conference.
- The conference dinners will be held at the Halli restaurant.
